The output of crude steel was increased by 11.8% y-o-y during January to June

According to the statistics of CISA, the national outputs of pig iron, crude steel, and steel were 456Mt, 563Mt, and 698Mt during January to June, up by 4.0%, 11.8%, and 13.9% y-o-y. The apparent consumption of crude steel was expected to be equivalent to 537Mt, up by 10.2% y-o-y.

During January to June, China exported 37.38Mt of steel products, up by 30.2% y-o-y, while the imported steel products was 7.35Mt, up by 0.1% y-o-y. During January to June, the net export volume of crude steel was 25.84Mt, up by 55.1% y-o-y. The imported iron ore was 561Mt, up by 2.6% y-o-y.

The comprehensive steel price index rose by 36.6% y-o-y during January to June, while the price of long products rose by 32.9% and the plate price rose by 41.2%.

During January to June, the operating income of major steel enterprises counted by CISA was RMB3.46 trillion, up by 51.5% y-o-y. The operating cost was RMB3.04 trillion yuan, up by 46.9% y-o-y. The total profit was RMB 226.8bn, up by 220% y-o-y. The profit margin was 6.56%, up by 3.4 percentage points y-o-y.
